Here’s a quick checklist to make sure that you are work ready! Once you have these milestones checked, you could be ready to be referred to Catapult for Employment Support.

1.      Do you have a suitable bank account set up?

2.      Do you know your IRD number? 
You can access it by going to https://www.ird.govt.nz/managing-my-tax/ird-numbers/find-my-ird-number

3.      Do you have your transport situation, whatever it is, sorted out and planned?
Even if you’re going to be on the bus, it’s good to know what routes you might need to take.

4.      Do you have suitable clothes for interviews and/or work? 
If not, you can seek help through Work and Income, or we can refer you to Dress for Success or So Fresh.

5.      Do you have an appropriate voicemail message set up? 
For example; “I can’t come to the phone right now, but if you send me a text, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.”

6.      Do you have an appropriate email address?
Not the email you set up as a joke as a teenager, but an email address with your name in it.

7.      Are you signed up for the job sites?
The main ones in Aotearoa New Zealand are SEEK, Indeed, and TradeMe Jobs.

8.      Do you have references for your CV?
Two references, with at least one reference being related to work, either paid or voluntary.
